Create the agent
1
Open Voice agents
In the dashboard, click Voice agents in the sidebar. With no agents yet, the templates show right away; otherwise click New agent.
2
Pick a template
Each template fills in a name, a prompt, a first message, an avatar and a voice. Start from scratch gives you a short outline to write your own.
3
Fill in the prompt
On the Agent tab, replace every
[placeholder] with your own details. A badge counts the placeholders still left. See Write a good prompt.4
Review the other tabs
The defaults work for most agents. Change the avatar or voice, conversation settings, tools or webhook if you need to.
5
Click Create agent
The agent is created and Share & embed opens, with its share link and embed code.
6
Make a test call
Click the phone button on the preview card (on phones, Test call at the top). Allow the microphone and talk to your agent.
Test calls are billed from your balance at the voice agent rate, like any other call. They use the agent’s last saved version.
The editor
The editor has seven tabs. A preview card on the right shows the avatar, the voice and a summary: how the call opens, turn-taking, interruptions, tools, maximum length and whether the webhook is on.The Agent tab
Save changes
- Click Save changes, or press ⌘ S (Ctrl S on Windows and Linux).
- Discard reverts to the last saved version.
- Unsaved changes shows next to the buttons while you have edits. Reloading or closing the tab asks before losing them.
- If a field on another tab is invalid, saving takes you to it.
Turn an agent off, or delete it
- Turn it off: on Share & embed, switch off Taking calls and save. Its share link, embeds and private links stop taking calls until you turn it back on.
- Delete it: click the trash icon at the top of the editor, then Delete agent. Its share link and every embed stop working right away. Its usage stays in your history, and its calls stay listed as (deleted). This can’t be undone.
The agents list
Voice agents lists every agent with its avatar, voice, status and when it was last edited:- Live: taking calls. Private also shows when only link holders can call.
- Off: not taking calls.
