# Quickstart

> Get a talking avatar running in a few minutes, with or without code.

Pick the path that fits you. The first two need a free account; the third needs nothing at all.

**No code: Voice Agent**

Build a complete AI voice agent in the dashboard and share it as a link.

**1. Create an account**

Go to [app.talking-avatar.dev](https://app.talking-avatar.dev/sign-up) and sign up with Google or your email. Your account starts with \$1 of free credits.

**2. Pick a template**

Open **Voice agents** in the sidebar and choose a starting point: Customer support, Sales assistant, Screening interviewer, Receptionist, Tutor, or Start from scratch.

**3. Fill in the prompt**

Replace the `[placeholders]` in the prompt with your company's details. The editor counts the placeholders left to fill in.

**4. Create the agent and test it**

Click **Create agent**. Then click the phone button on the preview card to make a test call from your browser.

**5. Share it**

On the **Share & embed** tab, copy the share link, or paste the one-line widget into your website.

Next: [Create a voice agent](https://docs.talking-avatar.dev/voice-agents/create-an-agent.md) walks through every setting.

**Developers: Realistic Avatars**

Stream your own agent's voice to a photorealistic avatar.

**1. Create an account and an API key**

Sign up at [app.talking-avatar.dev](https://app.talking-avatar.dev/sign-up), open **API keys** and click **Create key**. Copy the key (it starts with `tav_`) and keep it on your server.

**2. Install the SDK**

```bash theme={null}
npm install @interviewflowai/talking-avatar
```

**3. Start the avatar on your server**

```js server.js theme={null}
import express from "express";
import { LiveAvatar } from "@interviewflowai/talking-avatar/server";
const avatar = await LiveAvatar.start({
  apiKey: process.env.TALKING_AVATAR_API_KEY, // tav_…
  avatar: "ava4",                             // any avatar ID
  sampleRate: 24000,                          // your TTS audio's sample rate
});
const app = express().use(express.json());
app.post("/avatar", async (req, res) => {
  try { res.json(await avatar.handleView(req.body)); }
  catch (error) { res.status(503).json({ error: error.message }); }
});
// Your agent's voice, as it streams (PCM16 mono)
tts.on("audio", (pcm) => avatar.pushAudio(pcm));
```

**4. Show it on your page**

```js page.js theme={null}
import { LiveAvatarView } from "@interviewflowai/talking-avatar/live";
const view = new LiveAvatarView({
  container: document.getElementById("avatar"),
  endpoint: "/avatar",
});
document.getElementById("start").onclick = () => view.connect();
```

Next: the [Realistic Avatars quickstart](https://docs.talking-avatar.dev/realistic-avatars/quickstart.md) has a complete, runnable example.

**Free: Open Source**

Lip sync your own 3D avatar in the browser. No account needed.

**1. Install**

```bash theme={null}
npm install @interviewflowai/talking-avatar three
```

**2. Add the avatar**

```html theme={null}
<div id="avatar" style="width: 640px; height: 360px"></div>
<button id="start">Start</button>
```

```js theme={null}
import { TalkingAvatar } from "@interviewflowai/talking-avatar";
const avatar = new TalkingAvatar({
  container: document.getElementById("avatar"),
  avatarUrl: "https://example.com/avatar.glb", // any .glb with Oculus visemes
});
document.getElementById("start").onclick = () => avatar.speak("/hello.mp3");
```

## Try before you build

* **Talk to a realistic avatar** for two minutes, free and without signing up, on the [live demo](https://talking-avatar.dev/demo).
* **Try every avatar** from the dashboard's **Avatars** page. Demo calls there are free and don't use your credits.
* **Try the 3D demo** with sample voices in several languages, your own audio files or your microphone, at [talking-avatar.dev/demo/3d-avatar](https://talking-avatar.dev/demo/3d-avatar).
