# Pricing

> Pay as you go from prepaid credits, billed per second. No subscription, no minimum, no setup fee.

The price is the same at any volume. There are no tiers, seats, setup fees, monthly minimums or commitments. Commercial use is included.

## Free credits

Every new account gets **\$1 of free credits** at sign-up:

* 50 minutes of Realistic Avatars, or
* about 16 minutes of Voice Agent calls.

Demo calls on the dashboard's **Avatars** page, and the [live demo](https://talking-avatar.dev/demo) on the website, are free and don't use your credits.

## How billing works

Talking Avatar is prepaid. You add credits to your balance, and every session draws from it.

* **Realistic Avatars:** a session is billed from the moment the avatar is live until you close it, or your server disconnects.
* **Voice Agents:** a call is billed from the moment the avatar joins the call until the call ends. Test calls from the dashboard are billed like any other call.
* **Per second:** time is never rounded up to the minute. Each session's cost is shown to four decimal places on the **Usage** page.

## Keeping sessions running

* A session or call needs a balance of at least **\$0.02** to start.
* Running sessions are checked every 30 seconds. They end when your balance runs out, or when you reach your [monthly spending limit](https://docs.talking-avatar.dev/dashboard/billing.md#monthly-spending-limit).
* Turn on [auto top-up](https://docs.talking-avatar.dev/dashboard/billing.md#auto-top-up) to refill your balance automatically before it runs out.
